Essex Vintage Fashion Fair - 28 March 2010

When you move to London from abroad, you have so many new and exciting places to go and visit, events to join, people to meet...that you hardly go outside the city.

Having moved from Italy just a few months ago, I must confess that I've never gone further than Richmond! So, when I found out about the Essex Vintage Fashion Fair I thought, yes, this is the right occasion to go and see the rest of the country. Vintage fashion and short break...sounds a good union!

So, leaving from Liverpool Street Station, next 28th March I'll be heading  to Brentwood, Essex.

The Fair is organised by Michele and Stephen and is open to entrepreneurs, traders, collectors and just about anyone who has an interest in vintage and vintage inspired clothing, fashion accessories and fashion-related items covering the period 1920's to the 1980's.

The fair is quite young and to  celebrate the first birthday, a contest gives chance of winning £200.00 worth of vintage clothing!! Be there or be square.

Chanel Tattoos in Selfridges

Chanel is with no doubt one of my favourite brands for vintage clothing and accessories but I also love the current Chanel style and, of course, Karl Lagerfeld's  genius.

But...but, to be sincere, I really can't understand and appreciate these Chanel temporary tattoos. Designed  by Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, the transfers tattoos called Les Trompe L'Oeil de Chanel  can be found online at 75$ on the Chanel website and, starting tomorrow, they will also be available in Selfridges at 49£.

I wonder if wearing this temporary skin art  with 'double C' logo included is really in line with the idea of luxury and quality that a customer (and authentic Chanel lover) would expect from  the Chanel brand. What do you think?

Tomorrow don't miss out Frock Me!, vintage fashion fair at the Chelsea Town Hall. Held several times a year in London and Brighton (check next dates here) Frock Me! brings together top vintage dealers and collections including vintage clothing and accessories from 1920s to 1980s.

Started off in the mid 90s by Matthew Adams, Frock Me! has become one of the most important and beloved fairs in London for the high quality of items you can find there.  Top designers and celebrities can often be spotted amongst the crowds searching for one-off fashion finds.

Susan Caplan Vintage on Asos.com

A selection of Susan Caplan Vintage Collection is on sale starting today on asos.com. Some 20 pieces which, I'm sure, will be sold out soon. Prices start from £ 88 for a pair of Diamante Curved Earrings to £ 1200 for a Chanel Gold Necklace

The selection also includes pieces from collectable costume jewellery designers like Christian Dior and Butler & Wilson.

The wonderful gold  Chanel Vintage Necklace  ‘with the CC’ motif in the photo is on sale at  £ 956.

I like the idea of Asos.com, the largest online fashion retail, selling vintage items as a way to let people know about vintage and  high quality fashion and accessories. The partnership with collector Susan Caplan, already tested in April 2009, is the best guarantee to learn about timeless high quality jewellery.
